Prior to brush clearing along the stream corridor, the streambed was entirely barren. In only one growing season, as sunlight once more reached the ground, native plants returned to the streambank. In this photo, the vegetation is starting to fill in the streambed from the uplands with shoots coming up through the soil. In 2004, the streambed is expected to become more fully vegetated. The next phase of restoration along the stream corridor will complete clearing of remaining woody growth.
