The only restoration to occur on the first bufferland was brush and envasive species removal and prescribed burning. Native species have returned spontaneously. The trees on the horizon are part of a thicket between the first buffer and the prairie that still needs to be cleared. The turf grass in the foreground will be colonized with native plants as restoration is expanded.
