Wetland Restoration

A closed canopy of buckthorn and other exotic plant species are shading out the native understory of Harrier Marsh and portions of the adjacent sedge meadow and wet prairie. This condition impairs biological function and hydrology and exposes soil to erosion. As a result, wetland function has been adversely impacted allowing invasive species to displace native species. This further contributes to wetland degradation and loss of habitat.
