Restoration Methods

When the decision is made to convert a previously mowed turf grass landscape to a natural area, the site must first be prepared to receive and nurture native plants.

The following methods establish an environment that both encourages native survivors to reassert themselves and also optimizes the chances of survival for transplants.

  § Removal of non-native woody growth, including invasive brush and small trees not indigenous to Northeastern Illinois.
