The Ecosystems of Wolf Road Prairie

What is a savanna?
A savanna is an open area of scattered trees, such as bur oak, that coexist with grasses of the prairie. The crusty bark and thick taproots of the bur oaks are adaptive strategies to survive prairie fires.
