Why is it important to save prairie?
It is important to preserve the original landscapes of Illinois as "living museums" so that people will always know what they look like and what kinds of plants, animals and insects live there. Native Americans believe nature and humans are part of a whole and are connected. This teaches respect for all life and protection of rare examples of our natural heritage like Wolf Road Prairie.
